datilly Presents: Tech Tuesdays 05.08.2012 [Exclusive PureCast Mix by John Driscoll]
As the electronic music community continues to grow in popularity, many fans of the more “popular” genres, such as progressive and electro house, have begun to explore the lesser known artists and groovy beats of tech-house. Often incorporating vocal samples paired with a slower tempo, tech usually finds itself being played during opening sets and following peak hour mixes where fans have been drained of the energy needed to jump; a defining characteristic of progressive house. Here at datilly we sympathize with those who want to get more familiar with tech but don’t know where to begin so we have dedicated Tuesdays to helping fans get a little more intimate with the tracks and artists we have come to love over the years.
Appropriate for the commute to work or quick studio mix alike, the tech-house tracks featured this week have become tried and true personal favorites of ours. Most noticeably on our list is this month’s release by our favorite dj/producer to come from Uruguay, Gabriel Rocha. Don’t let this man’s seemingly childish stage name fool you, DJ PP has over 17 years of experience with numerous remixes and releases on nearly as many labels including Defected, Toolroom, and Cr2 many often finding a spot on beatport’s top sales charts. After receiving support from the legendary British producer and Toolroom Records owner, Mark Knight, Gabriel has been on a roll. By choosing to establish PP Music, the label responsible for his May 2nd release of I Feel The Music, it is clear that PP is committed to furthering his grasp on the industry.
To improve your listening experience our friend from New York, John Driscoll, has mixed our selection of tracks into a seamless 30 minute-10 course tasting. After studying abroad at the iconic Ministry of Sound in England and refining his production skills at Point Blank, Driscoll has modeled a name for himself around his passion for tech house. Becoming a familiar face around the tri-state area from his impressive showings in New York and Connecticut night clubs, John has also gained appreciation overseas following his trip to Rome in 2011. Devoting countless hours to the studio, expect to see several top notch releases to become available in the near future.
