Take A Rare Look Inside The Mind Of Deadmau5 on Q Uncut
The latest addition to CBC Radio’s ‘Q with Jian Ghomeshi’ interview library is a three-quarter of an hour long live sit down with Joel Zimmerman (aka Deadmau5). Removing the trademarked mau5head to reveal his relaxed, unfurled self, Canadian native Zimmerman serves up an impressive offering of answers to the plethora of questions thrown his way. Touching on several controversial subjects spicing up the usual music chit-chat, Ghomeshi’s probing provides a rare glimpse inside the mind of this house-hold name. Leaving listeners with a clear understanding of his roots, values, and self-awareness, we highly suggest fans find the time to devour this interview.
“I come from a low-income family. And now all of a sudden I’m worth millions and I feel I have to justify that, always. I would hate to think that someone out there would believe I’m making millions of dollars and just going out bottle-popping and flying on jets. Literally, money in, money out is my big thing right now. I would feel bad about hording all of that, having this mountain-top estate that no-one has access to. So I feel my work is owed back to those people.”
Uploaded the evening following his interview on Canadian radio, Deadmau5′s latest trending track, with nearly 100k listens on Soundcloud in just 24 hours, is a rework of Nine Inch Nails’ Survivalism. Self-described as “somethin i felt like doin,” let us know if you think it was ‘somethin’ worth his time in the comments below.
